Richard Wright/ Black Boy

Number of pages: 5

ABSTRACT:
A 5 page analysis of Richard Wright's autobiographical account of his youth, in which he recounts what it was like to grow up male and black in the South during the first half of the twentieth century. It is a story of rage, fear, and oppression. Although he lived in a culture that had a well-defined place for him, a place that was based on the assumption that blacks were inferiorā€¹sub-human, evenā€¹Richard Wright never assimilated into himself the idea that he was inferior in any way to the whites that surrounded him.
